DISTRICT 10 CORRECTIONS VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

District 10 is currently serving Johnson County Corrections by taking:
- Both Men’s and Women’s meetings into the Adult Residential Center (ARC) located at 141 Mission Dr, New Century, KS 66031 (within the New Century Airfield area – West of I-35 and between 151ststreet in Olathe to the North and HWY 56 in Gardner to the South).
- Men’s meetings into the Johnson County Jail in New Century
The ARC has two different programs for the clients:
- Therapeutic Community (TC) is a 6-month residential treatment program where the clients do not leave the facility and are required to complete several self-improvement items to “graduate” – and upon completion are released on parole. TC participants must request and be approved for admission.
- Work Release (WR) is a program where the clients are allowed to leave the facility during the day to work but must return each night as residents in a dormitory building separate from TC buildings. The WR clients are also required to complete several self-improvement items and not violate program conditions while away from the facility to be released on parole.
Women’s ARC AA meetings occur for the TC side Tuesdays at 6:45 PM weekly (arrive 6:30 PM for entry)
Women’s ARC AA meetings occur for the WR side Saturdays at 6:00 PM (arrive 5:45 PM for entry)
Men’s ARC AA meetings occur for the TC side Saturdays at 6:00 PM weekly (arrive 5:45 PM for entry)
Men’s ARC AA meetings occur for the WR side Saturdays at 6:00 PM weekly (arrive 5:45 PM for entry)
Men’s JoCo Jail meetings occur from 5-6 PM Weekdays (dates vary)
What is required for ARC:
- Pass a Background Check and be > 1 year beyond any personal corrections history
- Able to commit to 1 meeting a month as noted above (fixed / assigned week or a floating sub / extra attendee)
- Complete online ‘training’ – takes about an hour
- Attend an online orientation session – takes ~30 minutes
- Get a TB test and be negative (provided for free at the facility or obtain on your own)

What is required for JoCo Jail:
- Pass a Background Check and be > 1 year beyond any personal corrections history
- Able to commit to multiple meetings a month weekdays from 5-6 PM as noted above
- Complete in-person ‘training’ – takes about an hour
Opportunities also exist to take meetings to:
- Lansing, KS Men’s State Penitentiary:
- Tuesday 7 PM (Minimum Security – East Campus)
- Tuesday 5:30 (Med/Max Security – Gym on Main Campus)
- Friday 6 PM (Minimum Security – East Campus)
- Saturday 6 PM (Maximum Security)
- Topeka, KS Women’s State Penetentiary
- Leavenworth, KS Federal Penitentiary
A new Kansas “County level” jail “pen pal” correspondence program is available as of May 2025 – an opportunity to confidentially correspond with inmates at the County level throughout Kansas (GSO Corrections Correspondence only covers Federal and State level facilities – Counties are left out):
